[cpzvqzgl] Theo Epstein for President

Made the Red Sox great again.  Made the Cubs great again.

That the same person should be responsible for ending the two longest baseball World Series championship droughts seems an accomplishment without equal, in any field: the Greatest Of All Time.

Perhaps comparable are double Nobel Prize winners.

Epstein twice succeeded at tasks that many before had put in decades of tremendous effort, with tremendous resources, but had failed.  Nobel prize winners are sometimes merely the people who happened to be in the right place at the right time when technology and knowledge of the field advanced just enough to be able to perform an experiment or achieve a result.

That the Cubs' predicament was called the Billy Goat was not a curse; it was a prophecy that the end would be brought about by the GOAT.

(Had Cleveland won, we would be writing the same about Terry Francona.)
