[qxtrhxji] Charlie Hebdo: The attacks that YOU resemble

EDITORIAL

We here at Charlie Hebdo do not interpret 7 January 2015 as an attack against freedom of speech or an attack against freedom of the press.  That would be foolish and lazy.

It is foolish and lazy because putting blinders on, ignoring the larger context, makes the ethical judgment too neat, too easy.  That larger context is the deeply fucked up position of Arabs in our French republic originally founded on equality.  That larger context is, we publish what you want to buy: we publish cartoons mocking Islam because you readers enthusiastically shower us with gold when we do, buying those issues with an enthusiastic ferocity of hate reflecting how you feel about your fellow citizens.

7 January represents an attack against you pieces of shit the readers.  It was only because of the technical infeasibility of, say, them sabotaging our presses to poison our pages with anthrax that they chose to attack us, but us only as symbols representing you.

You are Charlie.  And France would be better off without you.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming of the upper Estates punching down on the lower Estates.  Enjoy our latest issue.  (We know you will.)
