Devise a way to usefully extract the rotational energy of the Earth. The vague beginnings of an idea: create an anode and cathode on opposite sides of the earth. Then an orbiting ring-like array to detect and harness the charges moving underneath it. (Probably need to avoid the orbit from decaying.)
How much energy can we extract before the length of the day changes noticeably?
Or orbital energy of the moon.
Tides and geothermal already do this extremely indirectly.
