[tojitvuv] Labeling versus censorship

Neither horror nor politically incorrect humor in entertainment is heavily censored nowadays.  I suspect the reason is because of accurate labeling: people who want to avoid such entertainment easily can.  Any adult who wants to see such entertainment easily can.

This suggests the general mechanism of labeling always as an alternative to censorship.  When does it work and when not?  Is it only entertainment?

A subtle observation about horror and politically incorrect humor is that there also does not seem to be social mechanisms to censor it, either, for example, demonization of people who consume (or produce) such entertainment.  What is going on?  These entertainment are assumed consumed with a mental separation from your "true self", and so do not actually reflect your true self.  Moreover, peers accept that assumption, and do not demonize you for consuming them.  This is different from politically incorrect "serious" speech or pornography: consumption of those types of speech does leave a mark on your reputation, so social mechanisms of censorship abound.
