You cannot peek into the alternate universe where you made a different decision than the one you made.  However, you might be able to statistically guess by examining the average of others like you (a cohort as a statistical proxy) who chose a different option.

Technology can make performing this calculation easier, though there are tricky privacy issues of information about other people's lives.

Somewhat inspired by Nate Silver substituting one state's polling results with another state's in predicting the Presidential election.

However, the problem of making the right decision remains difficult even if you can see the alternate outcomes.
